Perhaps the most celebrated Jewish holiday, Passover is an easy time to feel spiritually connected.

Nearly 3,500 years ago, our ancestors were taken out of bondage in Egypt and witnessed some of the greatest miracles that occurred in Jewish history. During those moments, the Jews became believers. Yet, as we know, many of the Jews in Egypt lost faith. They doubted whether an end to their suffering would really come: “Would G-d rescue us? Did He still care about us?”

When the plagues of blood and frogs began, a glimmer of hope arose. However, it was quickly vanished after Pharoah’s sorcerers replicated them. “Do we stand a chance?,” asked the Jews. “Is there any hope?”

It was only after the Jews witnessed the other plagues and open miracles that they were convinced they were going to be saved. The Jewish people would be saved. A nation that will last until the end of days was born.

When we learn about the events taking place around the world, it is so easy to give up hope. Is the world coming to an untimely end? So many deaths, so many tragedies. We begin to wonder, “Will G-d actually put an end to these tragedies? Does He still care about us?”

Let us take solace from the Passover story. One day, salvation will come.

This Passover, when we sit at our seder and recount the story of Egypt, let us have one wish in mind: May we all merit to see miracles even greater than the splitting of the sea. May we see an end to all suffering and continue to have faith until that day comes.
